Tom Cartier – Men's Hockey/Service – 1972-73
In his senior year, CSS introduced varsity athletics and Cartier was a co-captain on the first CSS men's hockey team in 1972-73. Upon graduating Cartier continued to help the college wherever he could. He assisted the men's hockey program in 1983 when asked and was one of the founders of Mars Lakeview Arena, the current home of the men's and women's hockey teams. He also was a major contributor to the construction of the Burns Wellness Fieldhouse. Cartier sat on the Board of Trustees for the college and is the president and founder of Spring Point Project, an initiative to cure diabetes through xenotransplantation of pig islet cells. Cartier has received St. Louis County's Outstanding Volunteer Award in 2010. He also received St. Louis County's Volunteer Recognition Award in 2006 and has earned Distinguished Service Awards from both the Jaycees and Rotary.
