Athletics Hall of Fame
There may not have been a better athlete, let alone runner in St. Scholastica history than Desiree Budd. Budd becomes the first athlete to be inducted into the CSS Athletics Hall of Fame in her first year of eligibility. She was a three-time NAIA All-American and made the NAIA National Championship meet all four years of her career. Budd was a runner-up at the 2001 NAIA National meet and placed fourth overall in 2002. She was a two-time regional champion and twice won the title at the NAIA Mid-States Championship. In 2002, she was the individual champion at the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational. She finished no lower than third in a meet in the 2001 season and holds the fastest 5k time in program history (17:41). Budd was a three-time All-UMAC choice and a three-time NAIA Scholar-Athlete All-American. The four-year team captain also won the women's division of the Garry Bjorkland Half Marathon, part of Grandma's Marathon weekend, in 2006.
