DULUTH, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – The Saints Sports Awards returned on Monday, April 10 for its tenth iteration of the event that recognizes all of St. Scholastica's student-athletes accomplishments throughout the year. Once again, the in-person event was held in the Mitchell Auditorium.
The award categories featured nominees from the 2022 spring season, along with the fall and winter seasons from the current academic year. Awards were handed out for Male/Female Rookie of the Year, Male/Female Athlete of the Year, Male/Female Team of the Year, Male/Female Performance of the Year, Male/Female Game of the Year, Male/Female Career Achievement, John Baggs Sportsmanship Award, Male/Female Scholar-Athlete and Berntson Blue and Gold Support.
The 2022-23 winter season teams and individuals would capture a majority of the awards handed out during the evening.
The men's hockey program took home Male Team and Game of the Year, Arkhip Ledenkov earned Male Athlete of the Year.
The two skiing programs combined for three awards. The women's team earned Female Team of the Year and Victoria Dybywad won Female Athlete of the Year. While men's skier Zachary Jayne won Male Rookie of the Year.
Women's Hockey took home Female Game of the Year. Elise Lund received the John Baggs Sportsmanship Award and Ali Ratzloff was the Female Scholar-Athlete recipient.
Men's Basketball Nick Carlson won the Male Career Achievement Award and Volleyball's Alica Draper was voted the Female Career Achievement recipient.
The Berntson Blue and Gold Award was given to CSS President Barbara McDonald, for her continued support of the athletic teams.
