MANKATO, Minn. (csssaints.com) - The St. Scholastica men's tennis team conquered Bethany Lutheran College 7-2 on Saturday on the BLC Tennis Courts.
Doubles
The Saints came out on top in two of three doubles matches. The No. 1 team,
Serhii Tykhonenko (Kiev, Ukraine/Lyceum #100 “Podil”) and
Logan Engelstad (Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln HS), were victorious with a final score of 8-1.
Brendan Boudreau (Thunder Bay, Ontario/Sir Winston Churchill Collegiate) and
Ernesto Telles (El Salvador/Academia Britanica Cuscatleca), the No. 2 team, came out on top, winning 8-2. At No. 3,
Bryce Gadke (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield HS) and
Trace Combs (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) struggled against an evenly matched pair, but eventually fell to their BLC opponents 9-7.
Singles
The Saints won five out of six singles matches. At No. 1, Tykhonenko defeated his Viking opponent 6-2, 6-2. Bourdeau (No. 2) and Telles (No. 3) captured the win with a final score of 6-2, 6-0. No. 4 Engelstad swept, winning 6-0, 6-0. Gadke was victorious as well, picking up the win with a score of 6-2, 6-1.
