csssaints.com) -- The St. Scholastica men's tennis team conquered Martin Luther College 7-2 at Arrowhead Tennis Center Friday.
Doubles
The No. 1 team,
Serhii Tykhonenko (Kiev, Ukraine/Lyceum #100 “Podil”) and
Brendan Boudreau (Thunder Bay, Ontario/Sir Winston Churchill Collegiate) blanked their Knight opponents 8-0.
Logan Engelstad (Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln HS) and
Zach Meikle (La Salle, Manitoba/Linden Christian School), the No. 2 team, won with a final score of 8-6. And at No. 3,
Chad Hietala (Aurora, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS) and
Jason Kent (Winnipeg, Manitoba/Altoona (Wis.) HS) were ahead 7-5 when Martin Luther caught up and tied up the match 7-7. Kent and Hietala were able to win the next two games, with a final shot down the line from Kent, and win with a score of 9-7.
Singles
For singles, the Saints won four out of six singles matches; three of these matches were sweeps.
Ernesto Telles (El Salvador/Academia Britanica Cuscatleca) (No. 1), Engelstad (No. 2) and
Bryce Gadke (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield HS) (No. 3), all won by scores of 6-0, 6-0. In the No. 4 spot,
Trace Combs (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) was victorious with a score of 6-3, 6-3.

Engelstad has accumulated 116 victories between singles and doubles play in his career. He has now surpassed his brother, Jacob Engelstad, and is tied with
Josh Stainer (Rowlands Castle, England/South Downs College) for the program record of 116 wins.
