DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) - The St. Scholastica men's tennis team earned a 9-0 victory over the University of Minnesota Morris on Sunday at the Marshall School, putting the Saints at 8-0 against UMAC opponents.
Doubles Competition:
The No. 1 doubles team of Josh Stainer (Rowlands Castle, England/South Downs College) and Logan Engelstad (Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln HS) defeated their opponents with a final score of 8-3. Jordan Lindholm (Mt. Iron, Minn./Virginia HS) and Matt Tellander (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids HS) in the No. 2 spot handled the competition with ease, winning 8-1, and the No. 3 team Caleb Thill (Altoona, Wis./Altoona HS) and Trace Combs (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) were also victorious with a score of 8-2.
Singles Competition:
The singles roster had an extremely successful afternoon as well. Makar Grytsevych (Lviv, Ukraine/Lviv Linguistic Gymnasium (King)) defeated his opponent 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 1 spot. Mike Fontana (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS (Gustavus Adolphus)) earned his 62nd career singles victory, breaking the program record, when he blanked his Morris opponent 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 2 spot.
At No. 3, Bryce Gadke (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield HS) won 6-0, 6-0 as well and Jason Kent (Winnipeg, Manitoba/Altoona (Wis.) HS) (No. 4) came out on top with a 6-1, 6-4 victory. Zach Meikle (La Salle, Manitoba/Linden Christian School) finished with a 6-3, 6-3 win in the No. 5 spot. Elliot Kazlauskas (New Prague, Minn./New Prague HS) in the No. 6 spot earned a "W" with a 6-0, 6-1 score.

The Saints (12-6, 8-0 UMAC) take action again next Friday against Bethany Lutheran College. The match is set to begin at 3 p.m at the Arrowhead Tennis Center in Duluth.
