Notables-Saints won two of three super-breakers in singles

DULUTH, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team won enough close matches to defeat Concordia College-Moorhead 7-2 on Sunday at the Arrowhead Tennis Center.
Doubles:The Saints were able to take two of the three doubles matches. The No. 1 team of
Josh Stainer (Rowlands Castle, England/South Downs College) and
Logan Engelstad (Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln HS) had no trouble, winning 8-1. The big win for the Saints was at the No. 2 spot as the duo of
Bryce Gadke (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield HS) and
Jordan Lindholm (Mt. Iron, Minn./Virginia HS) edged their opponents 8-6.
Singles:Makar Grytsevych (Lviv, Ukraine/Lviv Linguistic Gymnasium (King)) won in straight sets at the No. 3 spot by scores of 6-2, 6-4. Stainer also won in straight sets at the No. 1 spot 6-3, 6-3. Lindholm (No. 6) was the final straight sets winner 6-3, 6-3.
At No. 4,
Mike Fontana (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS (Gustavus Adolphus)) clinched the dual match for the Saints, rallying from a set down to win in a third set super-breaker 1-6, 6-3, (10-2). Engelstad also came from a set down to win at the No. 3 spot 2-6, 6-3, (11-9).
Up Next:The Saints (3-4) will be in action down in Florida on March 20 against The College of Wooster (Ohio).
