Notables-Make-up match that was postponed on Sunday, February 7
LAKEVILLE, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team dropped a tight match to Macalester College on Monday night 6-3 with four of the six singles matches being decided by third set super-breakers.
Doubles:The Scots prevailed in two of the three doubles matches, however the No. 3 team of
Jordan Lindholm (Mt. Iron, Minn./Virginia HS) and
Bryce Gadke (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield HS) came out on top 8-5.
Singles:The Scots then began singles play by winning at the No. 6 spot in super-breaker 4-6, 6-0, (10-6). After Macalester won at No. 2 to take a commanding 4-1 lead in the dual,
Logan Engelstad (Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln HS) won at the No. 3 spot in a super-breaker that went to overtime 6-2, 2-6, (12-10).
It was another super-breaker at the No. 4 spot that ultimately gave the Scots the dual victory as Macalester pulled it out 4-6, 6-2, (15-13).
Gadke was the other singles winner for the Saints, taking a super-breaker at the No. 5 spot 0-6, 6-3, (11-9).
Up Next:The Saints (1-3) will be back at home on Saturday when it welcomes the University of Northwestern for an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) match at the Arrowhead Tennis Center. Action is scheduled to begin at approximately 2:30 p.m.
