MORRIS, Minn. (csssaints.com) – St. Scholastica men's tennis continued its winning ways in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) with a 9-0 victory over the University of Minnesota-Morris on Sunday.
Josh Stainer (Portsmouth, England/South Downs College) and
Logan Engelstad (Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln HS) won their No. 1 doubles match 8-1 for CSS. The Saints No. 2 team of
Cody Mauston (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS) and
Tyler Bates (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) and No. 3 team of
Trace Combs (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) and
Jordan Lindholm (Mt. Iron, Minn./Virginia HS) also earned 8-1 victories in their matches.
St. Scholastica was perfect against the Cougars in singles competition as well. In the No. 1 singles match
Logan Engelstad (Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln HS) defeated Mike Maudal 6-1, 6-1 in straight sets.
Mike Fontana (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS (Gustavus Adolphus)) won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles followed by (No.3)
Tyler Bates (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) winning his match 6-0, 6-2. Also earning victories for CSS were (No.4)
