ORLANDO, Fla. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team defeated Monmouth College (Ill.) Monday evening 6-3.
The Saints went 2-1 in doubles action to begin the match. The No. 1 team of
Josh Stainer (Portsmouth, England/South Downs College) and
James Mack (Portsmouth, England/Cams Hill School) won 8-1. The No. 2 duo of
Logan Engelstad (Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln HS) and
Cody Mauston (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS) came out on top 8-5.
Engelstad (No. 3) then went on to win in singles action 6-3, 6-3. That was the same winning score for Mack (No. 2). Stainer (No. 1) sealed the match win with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 victory.
Tyler Bates (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) was the final victor at No. 6 for the Saints by scores of 6-2, 6-3.
The Saints (6-5) will end its Florida action on Wednesday when it faces Berry College (Ga.) and Wittenberg University (Ohio).
