DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team dropped its first match on Saturday against Gustavus Adolphus College 9-0 but recovered to take down North Central University 9-0 later in the day.

Josh Stainer (Portsmouth, England/South Downs College) put up a fight against the Gusties and dropped their match by a score of 9-7.

Logan Engelstad (Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln HS) didn't go down easily. He dropped his match 6-1, 7-6 (7-4).

Later in the day on Saturday, No. 1 doubles of Stainer
and Mack
swept their opponents 8-0. Cody Mauston (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS) and Tyler Bates(St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) at No. 2 doubles and No. 3 pair Trace Combs (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) and Taylor Grow (Minnetonka, Minn./Minneapolis Southwest HS) each beat North Central 8-1. continued his success taking his opponent down by scores of 6-0 and 6-0. No. 2 singles Mike Fontana (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS (Gustavus Adolphus)) followed up with a 6-2, 6-0 victory. Jordan Lindholm (Mt. Iron, Minn./Virginia HS) continued with CSS wins by scores of 6-2, 6-1. Sweeping their opponents were No. 4 Matt Tellander (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids HS) and No. 6 Grow. Combs also helped top off the Saints victory with marks at 6-3, 6-3. Saints improve their record to 8-7 overall and remain undefeated in the UMAC at 2-0.St. Scholastica's next match will be against the University of Northwestern in Duluth. The match will begin at noon next Saturday at the Arrowhead Tennis Center.
