DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team will face a pair of Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) squads this weekend with Hamline University on Saturday and Concordia College-Moorhead on Sunday.

The Saints started their season off on a high note with a 9-0 victory over North Central University on Saturday, but saw their program record 19-match winning streak come to an end with an 8-1 loss at Carleton College on Sunday.
 
Bates and Mauston Named POW: Senior doubles duo Tyler Bates (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) and Cody Mauston (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS) were named UMAC Men's Tennis Players of the Week; it was announced on Tuesday … The team went 2-0 over the weekend and were the lone winners vs. Carleton on Sunday … Bates and Mauston have won seven straight matches.
 
Streaks Ended: In addition to the team's 19-match win streak that was snapped on Sunday, the Saints also saw their streak of 10 straight 9-0 match wins come to an end as well as their 45-match doubles winning streak.
 
Picked to Win it: The Saints were unanimously selected to win the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference title for the 19th straight time; according to the UMAC Preseason Coaches' poll that was released on Wednesday.

The Pipers won their season opener on Saturday with a 5-4 victory over the Milwaukee School of Engineering … Hamline finished 5-15 overall and 1-8 in the MIAC a season ago … The Pipers have lost their top two singles players from a season ago and return six players from last season … The Pipers are predicted to finish last in the MIAC this season.
 
Concordia College Cobbers
Record: 0-0
 
The Cobbers will open their season against Bethel University on Saturday, before playing the Saints on Sunday … Concordia has been picked to finish eighth in the MIAC this season, according to the preseason coaches' poll … The Cobbers recorded only two wins last season and were winless in conference play …  Concordia returns its top two players from last season Zach Zitur and Jesse Schneeberger … Freshman Isaac Toivonen won four matches in the ITA Regional Tournament in September and advanced all the way to the semifinals of the event.
