Notables-11 sets decided by two games for less.-Mauston wins third straight singles match
VIRGINIA, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team fell 7-2 on Saturday to St. Olaf College at Quad Cities Tennis.
Seven of the nine matches would be tightly contested. The Saints earned a win at No. 1 doubles as the team of
Josh Stainer (Portsmouth, England/South Downs College) and
James Mack (Portsmouth, England/Cams Hill School) won 9-7. The Saints would fall at the No. 2 spot 8-6 and had match points at No. 3, but would fall 9-7.
In singles action,
Cody Mauston (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS) earned the lone win, coming from a set down to win in a third set super-breaker 5-7, 6-2, (10-6). Mack would fall in super-breaker 5-7, 7-6 (7-2), (10-5).
The Saints (3-2) will be in action next Friday when they host Ripon College (Wis.) at 2 p.m. at the Arrowhead Tennis Center. They will also have a match later that night at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
