csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's basketball team resumes Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play this weekend when it travels to Crown College on Saturday and the University of Minnesota Morris on Sunday.

UMAC Start: The Saints are 3-0 to open conference play for the first time since the 2012-13 season … The only time CSS has been 4-0 or 5-0 to open conference play was the team's first year in the UMAC in the 1997-98 season.
Laughlin Getting Going: Senior
Andrew Laughlin (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Central HS) led the team in scoring in both games down in Florida and has recorded double-figures in scoring in five straight games … He has led the team in scoring in four of the last five games.
Shooting Slump: After shooting 43 percent or better in six of their first seven games, the Saints have failed to shoot above 40 percent from the field in each of its last four games … CSS shot only 24 percent in its loss vs. Hood on Tuesday, its lowest field goal percentage since February of 1998 … The Saints have shot only 19 percent (21-of-108) on 3-point attempts in the last four games.
New Face: Sophomore transfer
Kory Deadrick (Esko, Minn./Esko HS) joined the Saints for the Florida trip this week and recorded 11 points in his first game against Colby on Monday … Deadrick, a forward, transferred at semester from the University of St. Thomas … Deadrick played on with teammate
Marc Peterson (Esko, Minn./Esko HS) at Esko High School and captured a State Title in 2014 … Deadrick was named the Duluth News Tribune Player of the Year following his senior season.
Upcoming Opponents Crown StormRecord: 1-8, 0-3 UMAC The Storm will enter this weekend on a three-game losing streak and have allowed at least 100 points in each game during that span … The lone win of the season was against Oak Hills Christian College … Crown is last in the conference in points allowed (93.7 points/game), opponents' field goal percentage (.552) and opponents' 3-point percentage (.430) … The Storm are second in the league in made 3-point attempts per game (9.1) and lead the conference in 3-point field goal attempts (27.7) … Sophomore Austin Vanderheyden leads the team with 16.4 points per game … He is second in the conference with 9.6 rebounds per game and leads the UMAC with 1.1 blocks per game … Junior James Brown and Seth Moan average 14.3 and 14.1 points per game, respectively.
Minnesota Morris CougarsRecord: 3-6, 1-2 UMAC The Cougars will face the University of Wisconsin-Superior on Saturday before taking on the Saints on Sunday … Morris will enter the weekend on a four-game losing streak … Two of the last three losses have been by five points or less … The Cougars are 2-1 at home this season … Morris is led by the conference's leading scorer in sophomore guard CD Douglas, who is averaging 20.4 points per game … Douglas is making 59 percent of his field goal attempts and he is second in the league in field goal attempts per game … He is also second in the UMAC in assists per game (3.9) and steals per game (2.3) … The only other Cougars averaging in double-figures is fellow sophomore Tyler Ukkelberg, who is at 10.2 points per game … Senior Joe Roggenbuck leads the team with 6.3 rebounds per game … Morris leads the conference with 3.4 blocks per game.
