DULUTH, Minn. — St. Scholastica's Damian Tamayo Vera (Miami, FL./Felix Varela Senior HS) has been named MIAC Baseball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
Tamayo Vera put together a dominant stretch at the plate, launchign five home runs (8 total hits) and five walks over his 20 at bats this past week. All five of his home runs came in a single day, as he powered the Saints offense with multiple multi-hit performances against St. Olaf, and a make-up inning against Carleton.
The senior outfielder has been one of the top hitters in the MIAC this season, currently leading the conference in AVG (.448), OPS (1.464), on-base percentage (.585), and slugging percentage (.879). He also leads the Saints with six home runs on the year.
The Saints are back in action on Wednesday afternoon for their home opener against Augsburg at Wade Stadium.
