Saints Baseball Sees Four Players Named CSC Academic All-District

6/4/2025 6:43:00 PM

The Saints quartet of Kyle Oswald (Mahtomedi, Minn./Mahtomedi HS), Sam Shopbell (Prior Lake, MN/Prior Lake HS (Fayetteville CC)), Adam Braun (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS (Central Lakes CC)), and Jake Schelonka (Sartell, Minn./Sartell HS) have been named Academic All-District® from the College Sports Communicators (CSC) for their contributions throughout the Saints 2025 campaign.

Each school can nominate a select number of student-athletes that meet the following criteria:
• at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
• at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average.
• compete in at least 90 percent of the institution's games or start 67 percent of the institution's games.

Oswald made his second consecutive CSC Academic All-District team after being named a season ago as well. Oswald hit a very impressive .349 on the year and was a big part of helping the pitching staff put out those impressive performances. He picked up eleven RBIs and scored eleven runs throughout the 2025 campaign to help the Saints finish third in runs scored in the MIAC.

Shopbell also picked up a second consecutive Academic All-District award with a 2025 campaign that saw him be a steady glove primarily at shortstop. He started thirty-two of forty games for the Saints and had a great average of .333. He was always getting on base with a .433 on base percentage as a result of his propensity for hits and the ability to draw walks. He also drove in nineteen RBIs and had a great fielding percentage of .961 at a difficult position to field.

Braun picked up his first CSC award as a senior, while being a cornerstone of the Saints outfield. He had a well rounded offensive game and was automatic on the base paths, going a perfect six-for-six in stolen bases and scoring seventeen runs for the Saints. In the field, he showed off the cannon while recording three outfield assists and only committed two errors on the year for a fielding percentage of .971.

Schelonka continues his award studded Summer that now includes a third MIAC All-Conference team, two Region 9 All-Region teams, and now his first career CSC Academic All-District team appearance. There's not much that can be said about his outstanding year that hasn't already been written, and he will have one more potential honor, as he has moved on to the CSC Academic All-American team nomination list. Stay tuned for the All-American teams that will be accounted next week!
