Saints Stars Named to All-Region Teams

5/28/2025 4:39:00 PM

The D3baseball.com and ABCA All-Region teams were recently announced and the Saints had multiple members make the mark for each designation. The process for each nomination process went as follows: The 2025 season marks the 13th season that D3baseball.com has named All-Region teams, with more than 1,000 players nominated. The ballot was then made available to D3baseball.com staff and contributors from which three teams in each region were determined. The 2025 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. III All-Region teams and Regional Players of the Year were voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Div. III All-America & Coach of the Year Committee.

Junior starting pitcher Zack Hlinsky (Albertville, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS) was named to the ABCA Region Nine All-Region First Team for his outstanding season on the mound for the Saints, while graduate student third baseman Jake Schelonka (Sartell, Minn./Sartell HS) and senior starting pitcher Matt Forrest (Oakdale, Minn./Hill-Murray HS) were named to the All-Region Second Team. Three ABCA All-Region members is the most for the Saints since 2019. On the D3baseball.com side of things, Schelonka asserted himself as Region Nine All-Region First Team, his second career D3baseball.com All-Region Team title, and Forrest was slotted in on the Region Nine All-Region Second Team.

During the 2025 season, Schelonka moved into sole possession of the Saints all-time career hits record with 247 and now ranks top ten in school history in virtually every offensive category including home runs, slugging percentage, and batting average. This is his second recognition with D3baseball.com this year, as he was previously the utility player of the week. He recently picked up his third career MIAC All-Conference Team award and will be on the ballot for the CSC Academic All-American team in the coming weeks.

Hlinsky had a near perfect season for the Saints. He allowed only a single earned run all year, to the tune of a .028 ERA and backed that up with three complete game shutouts. He also recently was named to the MIAC All-Conference Team and would have led the MIAC in ERA, but he did not meet the minimum innings requirement.

Forrest was the second half of the Saints dominant one-two punch from the pitching staff. He threw two complete game shutouts, including a one-hit, no walk outing against Hamline that saw him win D3baseball.com starting pitcher of the week, being the second Saint to have multiple D3baseball.com awards this season. Forrest also was named to the MIAC All-Conference team earlier this spring, commanding the strike zone to the effect of being second in the MIAC among qualified starters in ERA with a 1.75 average.

The awards season continues on for the Saints with the CSC awards coming next week.
