Jake Schelonka (Sartell, Minn./Sartell HS) was named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week at the third base position. Schelonka was raking during the Saints doubleheader against the Bethel Royals last week. He batted 4-for-7 (.571) from the plate with 2 home runs, good for a 1.429 slugging percentage, and also scored four runs, while driving in three RBIs.
The two home runs came in his first two at bats of game one where he sent a ball over the right field wall to drive in himself and
Kyle Oswald (Mahtomedi, Minn./Mahtomedi HS) in the first inning, following that up with a solo shot to right center field in the third. Later on in the bottom of the sixth inning, Schelonka singled into left center and eventually scored on a wild pitch. These contributions helped the Saints capture a game one win by a score of 6-5. While not as explosive in game two, Schelonka contributed with another single and scored after being walked in the eight inning to put the Saints in striking distance.
This is the first Saints D3baseball Team of the Week award of the season.
