DULUTH, Minn. — The College of St. Scholastica men's soccer team closed its home regular season with a convincing 5–0 win over the University of Wisconsin–Stout on Tuesday afternoon at Kenny Harkins Field.
Five different Saints scored in the victory as St. Scholastica (4–11–4, 3–5–1 MIAC) used a strong second half to pull away from the Blue Devils (1–14–3, 0–4–0).
Senior Parker Chastey (Duluth, MN/Denfeld HS) opened the scoring in the 19th minute, finishing a pass from Louis Maerker (Essen, Germany/) to give the Saints an early lead. Chastey then set up Ted Barker (Huntingdon, England/) in the 50th minute to make it 2–0.
Maerker added a goal of his own in the 65th minute off an assist from Gabriel Marchesoni (Surrey, Canada/), who followed with a goal four minutes later from Barker. Delwin Cruz (Richfield, MN/Richfield HS) capped the scoring in the 80th minute with his first collegiate goal, assisted by Truls Wichstrom-Johansen (Sarpsborg, Norway).
Goalkeepers Afonso Silva (Lisbon, Portugal/) and Aidan Moore (Tipptre Essex England/Anglo European School) combined for the shutout, making nine total saves as the Saints recorded their third clean sheet of the season.
St. Scholastica outshot UW–Stout 16–13 and held a 12–9 edge in shots on goal.
The Saints have one final game this season on the road against Carleton.
