BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica baseball team saw two athletes earn MIAC baseball postseason accolades, announced by the league office Monday afternoon. Getting their first career All-MIAC nod were Mitchell Novak (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) and Jake Schelonka (Sartell, Minn./Sartell HS).

Novak, a senior shortstop, started in every game for the Saints this year. He hit .351 with 46 hits and 12 RBI. He was tied third in the MIAC with 12 stolen bases and was tied seventh for most doubles this season with 11. Novak was ranked 15th in the conference in hits and 22nd in batting average.

Interim Head Baseball Coach Corey Kemp said, "Mitch was our leadoff hitter and provided a spark at the top of our lineup. When he was getting on base, we were winning games. Defensively he made only three errors in our twenty MIAC games and gave us a steady presence in the middle of our infield."

Schelonka, a junior fielder/pitcher, played in every game for the Saints and made nine starts on the mound. At the plate he hit .413 with a .445 on base-percentage. He had 52 hits, 10 doubles, three triples, and two home runs while driving in 22. On the mound he was 2-6 with a 4.86 ERA in 46.1 innings of work with 38 strikeouts.

Against MIAC opponents, he led the entire conference with a .507 batting average and .537 on-base percentage. Overall, Schelonka was fifth in batting average, seventh in slugging percentage, and eighth in hits and triples. "Jake dominated conference play and was a huge part of our late season success," Kemp stated. "As a pitcher and a position player, Jake made a huge impact on the field every day."
