DECTAUR, Ill.
(csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica baseball team fell in its third game in the last two days this afternoon, taking on Wisconsin-Stevens Point. The Skyhawks took a 4-0 lead over CSS, and the Saints' bats were held in check today, getting just one across, as Wisconsin-Stevens Points took today's matchup by a score of 4-1.
How it Happened
Wisconsin-Stevens Point struck early in the second inning today, as the Skyhawks got three hits to fall in the inning, taking a 1-0 lead in the process.
Jake Schelonka (Sartell, Minn./Sartell HS) got the start today for CSS and recorded two early strikeouts through the first two innings.
In the bottom of the third, the Skyhawks got a one-out double to fall, and took a 2-0 lead following a double on the next batter.
Schelonka led off the top of the fourth inning with a triple in the right center field gap, but the Saints were unable to bring him home, as the game remained at 2-0.
Matt Juza (Rice Lake, Wis./Rice Lake HS) made his debut in relief for CSS in the top of the fifth inning, and the freshman struck out the first batter he saw, and later got out of the inning, surrendering just one hit.
Mitchell Novak (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) led off the top of the sixth inning with a double, but once again, the Saints stranded a man in scoring position, still trailing 2-0.
Wisconsin-Stevens Point extended its lead in the bottom of the sixth, scoring two runs on two hits, to take a 4-0 lead heading into the later innings of today's game.
The Saints' bats were held silent in the seventh and eighth innings, as CSS trailed 4-0 heading into the ninth inning.
Alex Haapajoki (Brainerd, Minn./Brainerd HS (Central Lakes)) gave CSS some momentum with a one-out triple to right, and was driven in on a pinch-hit RBI single by
Levi Stubbles (San Bruno, Calif./El Camino HS (Skyline College)), but that was all the Saints would mutter, as the Skyhawks took today's game by a score of 4-1.

The Saints (0-6) will be back in action next on next Sunday, March 12
th, where they will travel to Florida to take place in the Russmatt Invitational. CSS will take on Central College (IA) at 1:00 p.m (EST)
