From the Rink
On just the Saints second shot of the game, Jacob Seitz (Mountain Iron, Minn./Virginia HS) was able to find the back of the net, off assists from Alec Severson (Roseau, Minn./Roseau HS) and Danylo Sukhonos (Kharkiv, Ukraine/Brovary Professional Lyceum), to take an early 1-0 lead.
Just a little over three minutes later, it was once again Seitz who scored for the Saints, this time coming off assists from Nathan Adrian (Roseau, Minn./Roseau HS) and Bryce Johnson (Roseau, Minn./Roseau HS), as the Saints held a momentous 2-0 lead.
The Johnnies were able to sneak in a goal late in the period, cutting into the Saints lead, as the lead now sat at 2-1.
After Jack Bostedt (Janesville, Wis./Janesville Craig HS) made a nice save for the Saints, Nathan Adrian (Roseau, Minn./Roseau HS) went down the ice and was able to notch another goal for CSS, as Johnson recorded his second assist of the game, and Isaac Suppin (Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada/George Elliot Secondary) got an assist, to extend CSS lead back to 3-1.
Both Bostedt and the Saints' penalty kill made a great effort in the back half of the second period, as the Saints held on to a 3-1 lead entering the third period.
Hunter Hanson (Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS) and Tristan Shewchuk (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada/St. Joseph HS) made big blocks for the Saints, killing off another penalty kill and keeping the score at 3-1.
Shortly after the powerplay ended for the Johnnies, St. John's cracked through for its second goal of the evening, closing the gap to 3-2.
Bostedt made 13 saves in the third period, and down the stretch, was key for the Saints maintaining its 3-2 lead over St. John's.
With under a minute to play, it was Arkhip Ledenkov (Polotsk, Belarus/Ostroshitsko-Gorodokskaya) who scored the empty net goal for the Saints, with assists coming from Filimon Ledenkov (Polotsk, Belarus/Ostroshitsko-Gorodokskaya) and Severson, to give CSS a 4-2 lead as they held on for the victory over St. John's tonight on the road.
