Box Score SAINT PAUL, MINN - The St. Scholastica men's tennis team played their final match of the early fall season as they faced Hamline University. With the win, St. Scholastica improves to 1-1 overall.
Jonas Abeleda (Sydney, Australia/St Aloysius' College) and Eamon Gerrard-Stace (Brisbane, Au./) did battle with their opponents but fell in the tiebreak 8-7(13-11). At No. 3 doubles, Carter Anderson (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) and Reece Patten (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) lost 6-8 in their match.
The Saints seemed to flip the script in singles play, as they impressively swept the Pipers in all of the matches, earning six wins and a comeback.
No. 1 player, Jonas Ableda defeated his opponent (6-2, 4-6, 8-10) and Gerrrard-Stace won (6-2, 6-2) in the number two spot. Julius Tabrizi (Frankfurt, Germany/Bischof-Neumann) won in the third spot, defeating his opponent (6-1, 6-3)
The 4-6 spots, took care of the Pipers as newcomer Dane Patten (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) won the first match of his career (6-0, 6-3) and Anderson won in another good matchup (6-2, 3-6, 9-11), earning the final win for the Saints was R. Patten would get the (6-4, 6-2 win).
This wraps up the fall season for the men's tennis team, they'll start up their spring season in Florida in 2024.
