CLERMONT, Fla. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica softball team went zero for two on the second day of The Spring Games tournament. The Saints lost 7-4 in the first game against the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, and lost 4-1 against No. 6 Eastern Connecticut State University in the second game.

The first inning was quiet for both teams with only one hit by the Saints. It wasn't until the third inning when the Pioneers (5-4) broke it open and scored six runs on the Saints, all of which were unearned. CSS did finish off the inning with a run scored by
Kari Breuer (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS).
St. Scholastica was unable to scratch a run across again until the bottom of the fifth when they scored three runs off four hits. Unfortunately, those were the last runs scored of the game and the Saints took a 7-4 loss.

Emma Sather (Chetek, Wis./Chetek-Weyerhaeuser HS) had four strikeouts in her four innings pitched.

In the second game, the Warriors (6-2) plated two in the first to take an early lead. It was in the fourth inning that CSS successfully executed a suicide squeeze play by
Grace Hadlich (Stillwater, Minn./Mahtomedi HS) scoring Mady Petersen. Unfortunately, it was the only run scored by the Saints.

At the plate, Hadlich and Breuer had the only two hits for the Saints throughout this game.

The Saints (5-3) will have their third day of games on Tuesday against Knox College (Ill.) at 4 p.m. (ET) and Carthage College (Wis.) at 6:15 p.m. (ET). The Saints will be back in Clermont once again.
