csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team began its 2022 campaign with a 6-3 victory over St. Norbert College (Wis.) on Sunday.
Doubles
The top two doubles teams took home wins for the Saints.
Elliot Schneider (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) and
Giacomo Lucchesi (Lima, Peru/Santa Maria Marianistas) at the No. 1 spot won by an 8-3 margin.
The No. 2 team, which consists of first-year players
Jonas Abeleda (Sydney, Australia/St Aloysius' College) and
Alex Daigneault (Agua Dulce, Calif./Hart HS), won by a score of 8-2.
Singles
Schneider continued where he left off last season in dual play with a 6-1, 6-1 win at the No. 1 spot.
Abeleda won his first collegiate singles match with a 6-3, 6-0 victory at the No. 2 position.
At the No. 4 spot, Lucchesi won by scores of 6-3, 6-2.
At the No. 5 spot,
Riley Versich (Kelly Lake, Minn./Hibbing HS (Itasca CC)) cruised to a 6-0, 6-3 victory.
