DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) - The St. Scholastica men's basketball team hosted the Carleton College Knights on a snowy Saturday afternoon. Both teams played neck and neck throughout the first half, but a late push by the Knights gave them the edge in as they captured a win over the Saints, 67-57.

How it Happened
CSS opened up the first half keeping pace with the Knights (14-4, 11-3 MIAC) as both teams were trading baskets early on. CSS was helped early on by buckets from seniors Nick Carlson (Canyon, Minn./South Ridge HS) and Quinn Fischer (Esko, Minn./Esko HS), along with, sophomore Noah Winesett (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS). Another jumper by Carlson gave the Saints a three point lead over the Knights with a little under eight minutes to play in the first half. Carleton responded by scoring a pair of baskets over the next four minutes to take back its lead. Both teams fought evenly over the next couple of minutes where after a pair of free throws by Kevin Thomas (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS), gave CSS the lead.  Carleton scored a three pointer just before the half and took the lead into halftime, 31-30.

The second half opened up with great offense, with Fischer scored a pair of layups and Connor Bich (Duluth, Minn./Hermantown HS (Dakota Wesleyan)) hit a jumper to give CSS a four point lead. Over the next six minutes, Carleton went on a 17-4 run which gave them its biggest lead up to that point at 50-41 with a little under nine minutes left to play. CSS got back within two following a Carlson 3-pointer. However, the Saints made just two more field goals in the final seven minutes as the Knights finished the game on a 17-9 run to win 67-57.
