csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's basketball team was held to 39% shooting Monday night in a 72-63 road loss to Macalester College in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) action.
How It Happened
The Saints jumped out a 4-0 lead and a
Nick Carlson (Canyon, Minn./South Ridge HS) 3-pointer made it 9-5 CSS four minutes into the game. Later in the first half, St. Scholastica went on an 8-0 run with
Jeff Moore (Richfield, Minn./Richfield HS) and
Isiah Hendrickson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) contributing all eight points as the Saints led 24-18. However, in the final four minutes of the half, the Scots (10-11, 7-9 MIAC) went on a 9-0 run to take a 36-30 lead and led 36-33 at the half following a
Noah Winesett (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) 3-pointer.
Connor Bich (Duluth, Minn./Hermantown HS (Dakota Wesleyan)) and Hendrickson scored the first four points of the second half to give the Saints the lead back at 37-36. Macalester responded by scoring 11 of the next 14 points to take a seven-point lead. The Scots went on a 9-0 run at midway point of the second half and led 58-45 with eight minutes remaining. CSS would only get as close as seven the rest of the way as Macalester held off the Saints 72-63.

Hendrickson led the Saints with a season-high 17 points, while Carlson added 16 points. Hendrickson, Carlson and
Quinn Fischer (Esko, Minn./Esko HS) all grabbed five rebounds.
Gabriel Ramos and Coby Gold each had 19 points to pace the Scots.
