MOORHEAD, Minn. (
csssaints.com) - The St. Scholastica men's hockey team took on Concordia College-Moorhead for the second day in a row in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) matchup on Saturday. The Cobbers scored the games' first four goals and while CSS scored two goals late, they could not overcome the deficit and fell 4-2.
How It Happened
Concordia (10-7-2, 7-2-1 MIAC) took no time getting things started today, scoring in the games' first two minutes. They added another goal less than eight minutes into the first period. Concordia took the 2-0 lead into the second period where they scored again on a powerplay goal at the midway point of the period. With less than a minute to play in the second period, the Cobbers added yet another goal to extend the lead to 4-0.
Not a minute had even passed into the third period when the Saints found the back of the net.
Nathan Adrian (Roseau, Minn./Roseau HS (Minnesota Wilderness-NAHL)) scored his eighth goal of the season coming off assists by
Jacob Seitz (Mountain Iron, Minn./Virginia HS (Minnesota Magicians-NAHL)) and
Michael Talbot (Anoka, Minn./Anoka HS (Minot-NAHL)). Only a few minutes later, Talbot took his turn, scoring his sixth goal of the season off an assist by
Braeden Holcomb (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids HS). CSS tried throughout the period to cut into the Cobbers lead, but ultimately fell in this matchup, 4-2.
Goaltending
Jack Bostedt (Janesville, Wis./Janesville Craig HS (Minnesota Mullets-USPHL)) recorded 33 saves for CSS in the net today, while Jackson Nelson recorded 14 saves for the Cobbers.
