INDIANAPOLIS (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team will make its second NCAA Division III Tournament appearance this week and for the second time will be headed to Chicago where they will open with the Illinois Institute of Technology.
The Saints captured their 19
th Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Tournament championship on Friday, defeating the University of Wisconsin-Superior. In doing so, the Saints captured one of the 31 automatic qualifiers for the 37-team tournament. St. Scholastica will enter with a 10-4 record.
Illinois Tech went 7-0 this spring and captured the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Tournament championship on Sunday. The Scarlet Hawks defeated Concordia University Wisconsin for the NACC title, who the Saints also defeated early in the season.
The winner of the CSS/Illinois Tech contest will face Case Western Reserve University (Ohio) in the second round on Saturday. Gustavus Adolphus College and Denison University (Ind.) round the teams competing in Chicago.
