Oberding a Shot Back after Rain-Shortened Opening Round of MIAC Championships

COON RAPIDS, Minn. (csssaints.com) – Weather reduced the first round of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Women's Golf Championship to just nine holes on Saturday at the Bunker Hills Golf Club with the Saints tied for eighth.

Top Performers
As a result of heavy rain and a two-hour weather delay, golfers were only able to play nine of their anticipated 18 holes for the day.
 
First-year golfer Carissa Oberding (Cottage Grove, Minn./Park HS) is one shot off the lead and tied for fourth after carding a 38 (+2). She was even par thru five holes after back-to-back birdies. Oberding then birdied the ninth hole to finish at two-over. Oberding tied for the most birdies in the first round.
 
Junior Olivia Wright (International Falls, Minn./Falls HS) also birdied the ninth hole to finish with a 41 (+5) and is tied for 26th overall.
 
Sophomore Anna Lindemann (St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS) recorded a 44 (+8) and is tied for 36th. Lindemann was even par on the two par-3 holes played.
 
Junior Ruby Mohelsky (Moose Lake, Minn./Moose Lake HS) completed the scoring for the Saints with a 46 (+10) and is tied for 41st.
 
Up Next
Full rounds of 18 holes are expected to be played on Sunday and Monday with the tournament being shortened to 45 holes in total. The Saints tee off at 11:04 a.m. tomorrow (Sunday).
