St. Cloud, MN. - The St. Scholastica Women's Golf team wrapped up the 2024 MIAC Championships today at St. Cloud Country Club. The three-day event consisted of three rounds of 18, one each day between Saturday, September 28, and Monday, September 30.
The Saints finished in ninth place of 10 teams. Collectively, they had a team total of 1100 (371, 668, 361, +236) and improved every round. St. Catherine took home first place and dominated the field with a tournament total of 904 (299, 304, 301, +40). In second, Carleton tallied a 935 (311, 312, 312, +71), and close behind in third was Bethel University with a 937 (315, 309, 313, +73).
How it Happened
Round One

Carissa Oberding (Cottage Grove, Minn./Park HS) came out with the lowest score for the Saints in round one, she shot a 79 (+7) and finished in T12, just seven strokes behind the leader.

Kate Anderson (Mora, Minn./Mora HS) shot an opening round of 94 (+22) and held the T42 position.

Emily Nystrom (Cambridge, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti HS) ended just two spots behind Anderson in solo 44th. She shot a 96 (+26).

Maggie Lamppa (Hoyt Lakes, Minn./Mesabi East HS) finished in the solo 45th spot with a round of 100 (+28).

Close behind was Olivia Martalock (Hermantown MN/Hermantown HS), she ended in 47th with a round of 102 (+30).
Round Two

After round two, Oberding remained in the T12 position, she added just one stroke from her round one score for a two-day total of 159 (79, 80, +15). She tallied five birdies over the two rounds.

Anderson knocked one stroke off after round two for a 187 (94, 93, +43). She remained at T42.

Nystrom also improved by one stroke, totaling 191 (96, 95, +51), and remained in 44th.

Lamppa totaled 198 (100, 98, +54), she improved by two strokes but stayed in 45th

Martalock stayed consistent over the two rounds, totaling a 204 (102, 102, +60) and maintained the 47th position.
Round Three

Oberding finished the tournament in T17, her tournament total was 244 (79, 80, 85, +28). Oberding was the highest-placed Saint at the MIAC Championship.

Nystrom made serious advancements in her final round, knocking eleven strokes in her final round, she totaled a 281 (98, 97, 86, +65). Nystrom moved up two spots on the leaderboard to 42nd.

Third in for the Saints was Anderson, she totaled 289 (94, 93, 102, +73). Anderson finished in the solo 43rd spot, respectively.

Lamppa finished right behind Anderson in 44th. She had a three-day total of 290 and shot six strokes better on the final day (110, 98, 92, +74)

Martalock remained in the 46th position following the final round, for a three-day total of 302 (102, 102, 98, +86).
