csssaints.com) – After back-to-back home sweeps of Martin Luther College and the University of Wisconsin-Superior, the St. Scholastica baseball team heads to the Twin Cities on Monday for a doubleheader against the University of Northwestern (Minn.).

What you need to know about the Saints:
-The Saints started their UMAC schedule with a 4-0 record; it will be put on the line against the Eagles.
-The Saints won two close games against UWS, game one went 10 innings with a score of 7-5, game two ended 4-2.

Matt Tautges (Fort Ripley, Minn./Pierz HS) went six innings allowing five runs and picked up four strikeouts.
Jerry Gooley (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove HS) came in to start the seventh inning and picked up the win tossing four scoreless innings.
-The bats came alive for the Saints late, trailing 5-3 in the fifth,
Eric Pearson (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) singled up the middle to score Braydon Hansen to make it 5-4. Later, in the seventh Pearson did it again tying up the score 5-5 and forcing it to extra innings with a solo homerun.
-In the bottom of the 10
th James Fuerniss (Lonsdale, Minn./New Prague HS) played hero as he hit his second career home run as he walked off the Yellowjackets in game one.

Jake Sande (Hayward, Wis./Hayward HS) started game two, he threw eight innings of six-hit shutout ball, while only walking one and striking out one.
-Game two's offense was started off by
Eric Pearson (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) who hit his second homerun of the day, this one a two-run shot.

Brad Fossum (Sturgeon Lake, Minn./Moose Lake HS (Concordia-St. Paul)) later hit a two-run single in the sixth that proved to be two much for UWS.
-The victory also gave head coach
Corey Kemp his 300
th career coaching win.
-Through 19 games, Weber still leads the team offensively hitting a .386/.451/.614 slugging percentage
-Pearson's bat is starting to heat up for CSS, he went 6-for-9 in the UWS series, which included a double and two home runs.
-The Saints lead the conference with 14 home runs.

Conor Wollenzien (North Mankato, Minn./Mankato West HS) leads the UMAC with 19 walks, while
Joey Zwak (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) has a league-high 16 stolen bases.
What You Need to Know about Northwestern:

-The Eagles are off to a .500 start in UMAC play this season.
-They have split with Northland College and defending UMAC Tournament Champions, Bethany Lutheran College
-In the game one win over BLC, the Eagles got a late inning error from Bethany that proved to be the winning run.
-In game one starter Quinton Lindow went five innings and was lifted after it remained a 5-5 tie. Northwestern got four shutdown innings from their bullpen in route to the upset victory.
-Game two would be so kind as they ended with a split and a 5-2 defeat.
-Philip Wall lets the Eagles with a .368/.474/.611 slash line on the season. Aaron Krahn leads the team with a .532 slugging percentage and three home runs.
-Wall also leads the team on the pitching side. He owns a 1.25 ERA and a 3-1 record in 36 innings this season. He holds opponents to a .205 batting average and has 28 strikeouts.
-UNW has the best team-ERA in the conference at 4.47.
-Opponents are hitting a league-low .267 against the Eagles.
-Bradley Spencer has a conference-high five saves.

Series History: The Saints have dominated this series, though the two teams split last season. The Eagles have won two of the last seven meetings, but before that they lost 72 straight games at the hands of the Saints dating back to April 1998.
Looking Ahead: The Saints will step out of UMAC play for a quick series against 2018 MIAC champions Macalester College Tuesday in St. Paul. The doubleheader will start at 2:30 p.m.
