Men’s Tennis Back in the Northland Saturday

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team will welcome Martin Luther College to an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) match in Virginia on Saturday.

What You Need to Know about the Saints:
-The Saints are coming off a 9-0 victory at Crown College last Saturday.
-CSS has not lost a regular season UMAC dual match in 162 matches.
-Elliot Schneider (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) has won 11 consecutive singles matches.
-The No. 1 doubles team of Serhii Tykhonenko (Kiev, Ukraine/Lyceum #100 "Podil") and Rafa Gonzalez (La Libertad, El Salvador/FESA) has won four straight matches.
-Tykhonenko was named to the UMAC Men's Tennis All-Decade Team on Thursday.
-Head Coach Wells Patten is six wins shy of 300 with the men's program.
-Patten was named the UMAC Men's Tennis Coach of the Decade on Thursday.
 
What You Need to Know about Martin Luther:
Record: 5-7, 2-2 UMAC
-In the last nine matches, the Knights have either won by shutout or lost by shutout.
-Four of their five wins have come against either North Central University (Minn.) or the University of Minnesota Morris.
-Josh Koelpin is 5-6 at the No. 1 singles spot.
-Koelpin was an All-UMAC selection last season.
-Jonah Shulz leads the team with six singles wins, five at the No. 3 spot.
-The No. 2 doubles team of Joshua Schneider and Nicolas Gartner is 5-5.
-The Knights are 30-40 in singles play and 14-22 in doubles action.
-MLC is picked to finish tied for fourth in the UMAC.

Series History: The Saints have won 45 straight in the series, but have not swept the Knights since 2016.
