Men’s Basketball Chasing Championship in Final Week

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's basketball team concludes its regular season this week with its home finale against Northland College on Wednesday and then travels to Crown College on Saturday. The Saints are currently tied for first place in the conference.

What You Need to Know about the Saints:
-The Saints extended their winning streak to 10 games with a pair of wins last week.
-The 10-game winning streak matches the second-longest streak in program history and is one shy of tying the program record set at the end of the 2008-09 season.
-CSS' win at Northwestern was its seventh-straight road win, which set a program record.
-The Saints are tied with Bethany Lutheran College for first place in the conference.
-BLC's final conference game is Wednesday and with a win can clinch the No. 1 seed due to tiebreaker criteria.
-CSS can clinch at least a home semifinal game with a win Wednesday or a Northwestern loss.
-The Saints have shot higher than 50 percent from the floor in three of the last four games.
-They have made at least 10 3-pointers in each of the last five games.
-Junior Sam Thompson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) had a career-high 18 points in the win at Northwestern, including a career-high six 3-point field goals.

-Harrison Lucas leads the team in scoring at 13.0 points per game.
-Matt Zorn is second in the conference, averaging 8.8 rebounds per contest.
-The LumberJacks have forced the most turnovers in the league at 12.7 per game.
-Northland leads the conference with 156 steals.

-The Storm enter the week with a 12-11 overall record and 8-6 in UMAC action.
-Crown will be at Martin Luther College on Wednesday before closing the season against the Saints Saturday.
-The Storm have already clinched a postseason spot and can either be the No. 3, No. 4 or No. 5 seed.
-In each of its last three conference losses, Crown has surrendered at least 100 points, including twice to co-leader Bethany Lutheran.
-Crown enters Saturday with a 6-1 home record in league play.
-The Storm are the highest scoring team in the conference, averaging 83.4 points per game.
-They are also the top rebounding team in the conference with 39.9 rebounds per game and a +5.2 margin.
-Crown ranks second in the conference with a 150 steals.
-Timothy Wendel is the UMAC's second-leading scorer at 19.4 points per game.
-Austin VanDerHeyden also averages 17.0 points per game.
-Both Wendel and VanDerHeyden make at least 53 percent of their field goal attempts.
