Men’s Hockey Welcomes Bridge Rival UWS Tuesday

What You Need to Know about the Saints:
-After two weekends of play the Saints currently slot in to the second place spot in the NCHA North Division.
-The Saints in their second weekend of action hosted a pair of NCHA rivals. The Saints defeated Concordia University Wisconsin 4-2 on Friday, and followed that up with a 2-2 tie against Milwaukee School of Engineering Saturday afternoon.
-Nick Trenciansky (Vancouver, British Columbia/Holy Cross Regional HS (Kindersley-SJHL)) started both games for the Saints, he allowed four goals on 50 shots over the weekend.
-In Friday's win over Concordia Wisconsin, four different Saints scored goals, including junior Davis Ross (Fort Frances, Ontario/Fort Frances HS (Fort Frances-SIJHL)), sophomores Nate Pionk (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS (Minot-NAHL)) and Carson Rose (Surrey, British Columbia/Elgin Park Secondary (Weyburn-SJHL)), and freshman Sam Fuss (Edina, Minn./Edina HS (Minot-NAHL)). For Ross, Pionk, and Fuss, it was their first goals of the 2018-19 season, Rose has two goals on the season.
-In Saturday's contest against MSOE, the Saints started out quickly, picking up two first period goals, 25 seconds apart from Jon Hansen (Twig, Minn./Duluth Marshall (Minnesota Mullets-USPHL)) and Kristofer McKinzie (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Marshall School (Minnesota Magicians-NAHL)).
-The Raiders answered with two of their own in the second period to force the 2-2 tie.
-Senior Cole Golka (Ardrossan, Alberta/Athol Murray College of Notre Dame (Dryden Ice Dogs-SIJHL)) picked up two assists in the win over Concordia Wisconsin and is now two points shy of 50 for his career.
-Freshman Jon Hansen (Twig, Minn./Duluth Marshall (Minnesota Mullets-USPHL)) netted his first collegiate goal in the tie with the Raiders.
-The Saints went 3-for-11 on the power play over the weekend, and 9-for-12 on the penalty kill.
-The Saints overall are 4-for-21 with the extra man and 4-for-19 when shorthanded.
 
What You Need to Know about UW-Superior:
Record: 2-5-1, 0-0-0 WIAC
-The Yellowjackets started out the season 1-0-1 with a 3-3 tie with Lake Forest College, and a 4-3 win over Concordia University-Wisconsin.
-After that the Jackets went on a five-game skid that saw them allow 4.2 goals against per game.
-The Jackets are 2-1-1 against NCHA teams this year.
-Troy York leads the Jackets in goals (7) and points (12). Three other Yellowjackets have eight points on the season, Andrew Durham (6G, 2A), Chad Lopez (5G, 3A), and Troy MacTavish (2G, 6A).
-UWS has used three different goalies this season, but have most heavily leaned on A.J. Smith and Cole Skinner. Smith has started four games and has a 2.70 GAA with a .895 save percentage. Skinner has gotten three starts with a 3.62 GAA and a .831 save percentage.
-The Yellowjackets have converted on 10-40 (.250) power play opportunities thus far.
-On the penalty kill they have killed off 24-32 (.750) penalties.
-UWS is 1-3-0 on the road this season and 4-10-2 dating back to the beginning of last season.
 
Series Record: UWS leads 86-40-9 (Last Meeting: 2-1 UWS – 11/25/2017)
 
Series History: These two teams have had over 130 meetings dating all the way back to 1972. Though UWS has almost always had the upper hand, including a 41-game win streak (45 game unbeaten streak) from 1994-2007. The series has been tilting towards more even ground in the last few years as UWS leads the last 10 games 5-3-2.
 
Looking Ahead: The Saints have another full week off as they take another weekend off for Thanksgiving break. The Saints will pick action back up next Tuesday as they travel to St. Paul and face Hamline University.
