SAINT PETER, Minn. — The St. Scholastica men's hockey team faced the Golden Gusties in their MIAC series finale on Friday evening. Despite a 0-0 tie after the first period, the Gusties pulled away for a 4-0 victory.
The Saints outshot the Gusties 10-8 in the opening period, but neither side was able to capitalize, sending the game into the second period scoreless.
The Gusties broke through and opened the scoring at 10:39 in the second period. They added three more goals in the third period, while the Saints' offense struggled to generate offensive pressure. Gustavus ended up earning the shutout with a 4-0 win.
Eino Rissanen (Sonvillier, Switzerland/Lycée Blaise-Cendrars) made 27 saves in net for the Saints, while
Matt Haun (Rochester, MN/Century HS) and
Tristan Shewchuk (Saskatoon, SK, Canada/St. Joseph HS) each recorded a block.
The Saints (5-18-1, 2-12-1 MIAC) will return home for their 2025-26 season finale, as they look to split with the Gusties. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Mars Lakeview Arena.
