WHITEWATER, Wis. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team fell in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament to No. 21 Hope College (Mich.) 5-0 on Thursday at the Wangerin Courts on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Doubles
The Saints began by falling in all three doubles matches. The No. 1 team of
Jessica Solberg (Bemidji, Minn. /Bemidji HS) and
Madeleine Scanlan (St. Albans, England /Loreto College) fell 8-2. The No. 2 team of
Katelyn Rice (Eveleth, Minn. /Eveleth-Gilbert HS) and
Elizabeth Fink (Rochester, Minn. /Rochester Century HS) lost 8-3 and the No. 3 tandem of
Elise Hauer (Duluth, Minn. /Duluth East HS) and
Alexia Brascugli (Eveleth, Minn. /Eveleth-Gilbert HS) fell 8-1.
Singles
The Flying Dutch were then in the lead of all six singles matches. Hope completed wins at the No. 1 and 3 spots to end the match by the 5-0 score. Hope moves on to face the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in the second round tomorrow. The Warhawks were victors over the University of Northwestern (Minn.) 5-0 earlier in the day.
End of Season
The Saints finish with an overall record of 18-6. This was the third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance for the Saints and the sixth overall. CSS will say goodbye to seniors
