Box Score Arden Hills, Minn – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team traveled south to take part in their first playoff appearance in program history against the Bethel Royals. Today's match ended with the Saints taking a loss to the Royals, 4-0.
How it Happened
Doubles
Mishell Benitez (Ambato, Ecuador/Colegio Tecnico Particular a Distancia José Martí) and Maria Sosa (Mazatenango, Guatemala/Instituto de Educación a Distancia) appeared at No. 2 doubles, their match ended with a final score of 1-6.
Annika Lundell (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) and Sophia Cosgrove (Bli Bli, , Australia/) competed at No. 3 doubles. They too were unable to come out on top, finishing with a score of 1-6.
Katia Kartels and Julia Maier (Hamburg, Germany/Heidberg Gymnasium) appeared in No. 1 doubles. Their match was abandoned following the losses in the two prior matches.
Singles
Cosgrove and Claire Rewertz (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) ended with nearly identical scores after two sets. Cosgrove, who was featured at No. 4 singles, ended with scores of 0-6 and 1-6. Rewertz, at No. 6 singles, ended her singles match with scores of 1-6 and 0-6.
Benitez was the final Saint to record scores. She appeared at No. 3 singles and fell to the Royals with scores of 0-6 and 2-6.
Maier's, Bartels's, and M. Sosa's matches were all abandoned following the Saints' three losses in singles play.
Season Recap
The Saints finished their season with an overall record of 11-8 and a conference record of 5-6. The Saints will be saying goodbye to five seniors as the 2025 season comes to an end.
