UMAC POW: Junior reliever
Joe Gonrowski (Elk River, Minn./Elk River HS ) was named the UMAC Pitcher of the Week on Monday … Gonrowski pitched a perfect four innings of relief in game two against Bethany Lutheran on Thursday to improve to 3-0 on the year … Gonrowski has not allowed an earned run in 20.2 innings this season and has 17 strikeouts to only three walks … He has pitched at least three innings in an appearance four different times this season.
Minks Approaching a Milestone: Senior third baseman
Brian Minks (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral HS ) is two doubles shy of becoming only the second Saint in history to record at least 50 doubles, 10 triples and 10 home runs in a career … The only other CSS player to do that has his number retired and that was Ben Sickler in the 90s.
Extra-Base Hits: St. Scholastica ranks in the top 10 of NCAA Division III in doubles per game (5-2.83) and slugging percentage (8-.493) … The Saints also rank in the top 25 in home runs per game (0.83) … CSS has 18 more doubles than the next highest UMAC school … It leads the conference in triples (9) and ranks second in the league with 19 home runs … The Saints already have 400 total bases this season.
Out-Hitting Opponents: The Saints have out-hit their counterparts in each of the last 12 games and 17 games overall this season … CSS is 15-2 when they out-hit their opponents.
Shutouts: CSS has recorded two shutouts in the last three games and have five for the season … That number ranks fifth in the country and the highest in the Midwest Region.
That Bullpen Though: The St. Scholastica bullpen has allowed only 31 runs in 80.2 innings for a 2.34 earned run average … Opponents have hit only .215 off CSS relievers and the Saints are 14-0 this season when leading or tied after the sixth inning.
Streaks/Trends: Riley Bernsdorf (Meadowlands, Minn. /Floodwood HS) extended his hitting streak to 14 games last week … Minks is now on a 12-game hit streak … Minks, Neutzling and R. Bernsdorf have all reached base safely in at least the last 14 games.
