PREVIEW: Baseball Set for 4-Game Series with La Crosse

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – Due to forecasted low temperatures in Duluth, this weekend's series between the St. Scholastica baseball team and No. 18 University of Wisconsin-La Crosse has been moved to La Crosse and will now be a four-game series with doubleheaders on both Saturday and Sunday.

Colvard Consistent: Senior left fielder Austin Colvard (Little Canada, Minn./Roseville HS) had a great spring break, going 21-for-36 (.583) with eight RBIs and 10 runs scored and five stolen bases … Colvard will enter the weekend on a 19-game hitting streak and ranks eighth in NCAA Division III in batting … He and teammate Steven Neutzling (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral ) are the only Saints to have reached base safely in every game this season.
 
Fast Starts: The Saints are out-scoring teams 15-4 in the first inning this season … It is usually a good sign when there is scoring in the first inning as CSS is 4-2 when it scores and 3-0 when the opponent scores.
 
10-Hit Mark: The Saints were 4-1 over spring break when it recorded at least 10 hits … The only loss was to Greenville when it could not hold a five-run lead entering the final inning … The Saints were 24-5 last season when they had at least 10 hits.
