csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team closed out action down in Florida with a 9-0 triumph over Union College (N.Y.) on Tuesday.
DoublesThe No. 1 team of
Josh Stainer (Rowlands Castle, England/South Downs College) and
Logan Engelstad (Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln HS) won 8-4. The No. 2 duo of
Makar Grytsevych (Lviv, Ukraine/Lviv Linguistic Gymnasium (King)) and
Jordan Lindholm (Mt. Iron, Minn./Virginia HS) edged their opponents 8-6. Finally, the No. 3 team of
Mike Fontana (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS (Gustavus Adolphus)) and
Bryce Gadke (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield HS) came out on top 8-5. Fontana and Gadke have won four straight matches.
SinglesStainer (No. 1) won by scores of 6-0, 6-3. Grytsevych (No. 2) also cruised to victory 6-1, 6-1. Engelstad (No. 3) dropped only one game in a 6-1, 6-0 win.
Fontana (No. 4) was victorious 6-1, 6-3 and Gadke (No. 5) won 6-0, 6-3. The final winner on the day was Lindholm (No. 6) in a third set super-breaker 3-6, 6-0, (10-2).
