Notables-Wagner was the first CSS athlete to compete in a multi-event at a NCAA Indoor Championship
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (csssaints.com) – St. Scholastica's
Kevin Wagner (Cleveland, Minn./Cleveland HS) finished 11
th in the heptathlon at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday.
Wagner started the day in 12
th after completing four events on Friday. The first event on Saturday would be the 60m hurdles. He finished 14
th in that event with a time of 8.81. He followed by tying for 10
th in the pole vault, clearing a height of 13'3.5" (4.05m), which matched the height he cleared in December, the only other time he has pole vaulted this indoor season.
He finished with 1000m run and once again placed 10
th, finishing in a time of 2:57.32. His final point total was 4,759 points. Brandon Zarnoth of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire won the event with 5,425 points. Wagner will now turn his attention to the decathlon in the outdoor season where he has made the NCAA Championships the past two seasons.
The Saints will begin their outdoor season on Friday, April 3 at the Ashton May Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
