DULUTH, Minn. – The College of St. Scholastica men's track and field team will be represented on the national stage this week as shot put standout Trent Beseth (Stanchfield, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti HS) has qualified for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Beseth will compete in the shot put at the national meet on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. EST at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama.

The national qualification comes despite Beseth missing several meets during the indoor season due to injury. His place in the NCAA field was secured by his season-best throw of 18.12 meters, recorded at St. Scholastica's home meet, The Opener, earlier this winter. At the time of the throw, the mark ranked as the top performance in all of NCAA Division III.

Beseth's performance at The Opener quickly established him as one of the top competitors in the country in the event and ultimately stood as a qualifying mark for the national championships. In his final year of college eligibility, Beseth will seek an opportunity to contend in the competition after a runner-up finish at the 2025 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, just 0.05m shy of a championship throw.
