PREVIEW: Baseball to be Away from Home for UMAC Tournament

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – For the first time since the 2005 season, the St. Scholastica baseball team will not be hosting the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Tournament in Duluth as field conditions and weather have forced the move to the Twin Cities.

11 a.m. (Game 1) – Northland vs. Northwestern – Barnes Field (Concordia-St. Paul)
11 a.m. (Game 2) – St. Scholastica vs. Bethany Lutheran – Hargis Park (Bethel)
3 p.m. (Game 3) – NC/UNW Loser vs. CSS/BLC Loser – Barnes Field (Concordia-St. Paul)
3 p.m. (Game 4) – NC/UNW Winner vs. CSS/BLC Winner – Hargis Park (Bethel)
Saturday
Noon (Game 5) – Game 3 Winner vs. Game 4 Loser – Hargis Park
3 p.m. (Game 6-Championship) – Game 4 Winner vs. Game 5 Winner
Sunday

-The Eagles look to rebound from a pair of recent losses and get back on the winning track against Northland in the UMAC semifinals. Northwestern fell at St. Thomas on Monday and at Hamline on Tuesday.
-Northwestern has been led offensively by the trio of Andy Peterson, Michael Studer and Tyler Osborn. All three players have batting averages above .340.
-Andy Haagenson has also contributed offensively, posting a .327 batting average and scored a team high 33 runs.
-Andy Peterson has also led the way for the Eagles pitching staff. Peterson posted a UMAC-best 1.02 ERA and was fourth in the conference with 42 strikeouts.
-The Eagles had 92 extra-base hits, second only to CSS in the regular season.
-Northwestern will face Northland in the UMAC Tournament semifinals. The Eagles fell to LumberJacks in two of the three contests, but all three contests were decided in extra innings.

Series History: (CSS is 33-4 vs. Bethany Lutheran)
-The Saints have done well against Bethany in recent years, but the Vikings are the one of two UMAC teams to have beaten CSS four times in program history.
