Box Score WHITEWATER, Wis. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica baseball team fell to the ninth ranked Warhawks of University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Saturday afternoon by a final score of 11-8.

Whitewater got the scoring started early with a three-run first inning highlighted by a Casey Power two-run single off of the Saints starting pitcher Mickie Keuning (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS (Angelo State)).

After a one run second and a scoreless third, the Warhawks would add six runs in the fourth inning putting themselves up 10-0.

CSS would strike back in the seventh inning with four runs of their own.  Jake Kuschke (Mahtomedi, Minn./Mahtomedi HS ) got the rally started with a pinch hit single and would later score on a Sam Christofferson (Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo HS ) ground-rule double. Brian Minks (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral HS ) and Al Marolt (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial HS) would finish the scoring with back-to-back hits bringing home the last three runs of the inning.

After a scoreless eighth inning, the Saints would put together another rally in their half of the ninth.  After loading the bases on two walks and a fielding error, Jordan Risse (Sioux Falls, S.D./Washington HS ) would reach base on another error by the Whitewater shortstop making the score 11-5 with just one out.

After a Ray Feigal (Boulder, Colo./Shining Mountain Waldorf School ) fly out, the Saints would score again on a passed ball to make the score 11-6.

Kuschke would go on to finish his at-bat by doubling to center, scoring two in the process setting the score at 11-8 Whitewater.

That would be the last time the Saints would score in this game as the final out was made right after the Kuschke double making the final score UW-Whitewater 11, CSS 8.

Kuschke would finish the day 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored after pinch hitting for starting catcher Tyler Henderson (Chisago Lakes, Minn./Chisago Lakes HS) while Risse went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.
