VIRGINIA, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team finished the regular season with its seventh straight 9-0 victory, defeating the University of Minnesota Morris Monday night at Quad Cities Tennis.

CSS will enter the UMAC Tournament this weekend on a program record 16-match winning streak, having not lost a single individual conference singles or doubles match this season. The last time that happened was 2009. The Saints also matched last year's single season program record of 20 victories on Monday night.

The Saints dropped just two games between singles and doubles play on the night. CSS picked up wins at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles by default to begin play.

At No. 1 doubles, the team of Josh Stainer (Portsmouth, England/South Downs College) and Logan Engelstad (Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln HS) won 8-1. The No. 2 duo of Cody Mauston (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS) and Mike Fontana (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS (Gustavus Adolphus)) won 8-0.

In singles play, James Mack (Portsmouth, England/Cams Hill School) at No. 1, Nick Lambrecht (Stacy, Minn./North Branch HS (Minn.-Duluth)) at No. 2 and Cullen Combs (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) at No. 3 all won 6-0, 6-0. For Lambrecht, it was his 50th career singles win. He becomes the first CSS player to record 50 career singles wins and have over a .700 winning percentage (.725).

Dylan Kelly (Minneapolis, Minn./Minneapolis South HS) at No. 4 and Tyler Bates (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) at No. 5 finished the evening by both taking out their opponents in eight-game pro sets. Kelly won 8-1 and Bates won 8-0.

The Saints (20-3, 10-0 UMAC) will either play Morris again or Martin Luther College in the semifinals of the UMAC Tournament Friday night at the Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis. That match is scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m.
