PREVIEW: Baseball Set for Four Games this Weekend

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica baseball team will play four games this upcoming weekend with a tripleheader on Saturday in Coon Rapids against North Central University and one game on Sunday against 10th-ranked University of St. Thomas.
Game Schedule:
Saturday at North Central – 11 a.m. (TH) (Coon Rapids)
Sunday at St. Thomas – Noon
#10 University of St. Thomas Tommies Record: 24-6 (13-1 MIAC) Head Coach: Chris Olean | -St. Thomas enters the weekend ranked 10th in the D3baseball.com poll.
-The Tommies defeated St. Scholastica 9-2 in the season opener in Tulsa, Oklahoma scoring eight runs in the first four innings.
-St. Thomas had won 14 in a row before losing to Bethel 5-4 in the first game of a doubleheader on Tuesday. They went on to take game two 11-4.
-Tim Kuzniar currently is hitting .484 to lead the MIAC and is second on the team in hits with 46 behind Ben Podobinski's 49. Podobinski leads the conference with 23 stolen bases.
-Tyler Peterson leads the MIAC with six home runs and 35 RBIs.
-Collin Wendinger leads the team in wins with five while posting zero losses and a 3.12 ERA.
-UST in currently first in the MIAC 2.5 games ahead of Bethel with just six conference games left in the season.
Series History: (CSS is 16-24 vs. St. Thomas) -The Tommies and Saints have alternated wins and losses over the last five games. In each of those meetings the Tommies have been ranked in the top 10 nationally. |
