| By:
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 NEW ULM, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St Scholastica baseball team split Friday's games at Martin Luther with a 3-1 loss to start the day and then a 16-1 in game two.

Game 1: CSS 1, Martin Luther 3
The Saints' win streak of 48 straight UMAC regular season wins came to an end with a 3-1 loss to the Knights in game one. The last conference loss for the Saints took place on April 9, 2011 at Bethany Lutheran

Martin Luther got the first run of the game in the top of the second with a leadoff double by Aaron Stokke followed by a RBI single from Joel Hering to score one for the Knights.

In the top of the sixth the Knights added another run with a RBI double from Thomas Welch scoring Matthew Olson to make it 2-0 Martin Luther.

It wasn't until the bottom of the frame when the Saints Trevor Bernsdorf (Meadowlands, Minn./Floodwood HS (Doane) ) walked and was batted around by Tyler Duex (Bloomer, Wis./Chippewa Falls HS (UW-Superior) ) and Jordan Risse (Sioux Falls, S.D./Washington HS ). He scored off a Martin Luther error, but the Saints stranded the bases loaded in the inning to make it 2-1 MLC after six innings.

It remained that way until the top of the ninth as the Knights added another RBI double by Joe Schmudach to end the game with Martin Luther taking a 3-1 win.

Mickie Keuning (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS (Angelo State)) struck out four in the loss for the Saints, while Jake Ziel had the win for the Knights with eight strikeouts.

Game 2: CSS 16, Martin Luther 1 (F/7)
Game two was a different story as early errors led to numerous early runs for the Saints as they cruised to the 16-1 victory.

In the bottom of the first the Saints took home four runs of the game. Austin Colvard (Little Canada, Minn./Roseville HS) walked on and was scored by a Risse sacrifice fly.  Bernsdorf and Tyler Henderson (Chisago Lakes, Minn./Chisago Lakes HS) both scored unearned runs off fielding errors by the Knights and a wild pitch brought Bret Moody (Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo HS) in at the end of the inning.

The Saints scored three more in the bottom of the second off a RBI double by Risse and a two-run single from Henderson.  One more run in the third put the Saints up 8-0.

After the Knights scored one run in the fifth, the Saints added three more the bottom of the fifth with Ryan Burmeister (Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS (Augustana, S.D.) ) batting a two-run single.

With the Saints up 11-1, they added their final five runs in the bottom of the sixth.  A single by Sam Christofferson (Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo HS ) to right field brought in the last two runs with the Saints taking a 16-1 win to split with the Knights for the day.

Andy Davis (Chippewa Falls, Wis./McDonell HS ) took the win for the Saints with seven strikeouts.  The Knights struggled with pitching having four different players take the mound for two innings at the most.  Their only strikeout came from Matthew Olson in the first inning. Burmeister finished 2-for-2 with three RBIs.

The Saints (11-10, 3-1 UMAC) wrap up their series tomorrow against Martin Luther at noon.
