Saints on Losing End of Pitchers' Dual

Box Score SAUGET, Ill. (csssaints.com) – The St Scholastica baseball team had its second consecutive loss Saturday afternoon as 14th-ranked Concordia University-Chicago took a 2-1 win over the Saints.

After the Saints had a runner thrown out at the plate in the second inning, the Cougars got the scoring started in the bottom of the fourth.  After two outs by the Saints, Brent Spohr stepped up to the plate to hit a double scoring Zubrzycki and putting the Cougars up 1-0.

The Saints responded in the top of the fifth with Padraic Getchell (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS (North Dakota) ) sent out a double and advancing to third on a fielding error. Two batters later, Getchell scored on a Parker Olson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS (Minn.-Duluth)) groundout to tie the game at 1-1.

The Saints would leave runners at third base in the eighth and ninth innings as they fell 2-1.
