The St. Scholastica women's hockey team has been on a roll to start the season, opening up the first two weekends with a pair of sweeps, both against conference opponents … The Saints are coming off of a successful trip to Hancock, Michigan, where they beat Finlandia Friday and Saturday by scores of 8-0 and 4-0 … Katie Josephson (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove HS) netted four goals in Michigan last weekend, while both goalies Lindsey Hartfiel (Big Lake, Minn./Buffalo HS) and Kristen Hunt (Winnipeg, Manitoba/West Kildonan) recorded shutouts.
Shutout Streak: The St. Scholastica defense has been solid so far this year, giving up two goals through four games … They are currently on a two-game shutout streak, with both goalies Lindsey Hartfiel (Big Lake, Minn./Buffalo HS) and Kristen Hunt (Winnipeg, Manitoba/West Kildonan) contributing to it.
Balanced Scoring: The Saints are led offensively by Nina Waidacher (Arosa, Switzerland/Wirtschaftschule KV Chur (ZSC Lions/Swiss U18 National)), who has six goals coming into the weekend … Nina isn't the only one putting the puck in the net, however, as Sierra Hanowski (Warroad, Minn./Warroad HS) (4 goals), Katie Josephson (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove HS) (4 goals), Abby Sawyer (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna HS) (3 goals), and Alex Blair (Drake, Saskatchewan/Lanigan Central HS) (5 assists) are helping contribute to the Saints success as well.
Not Close Early: The Saints lead NCAA Division III scoring margin early on in the season, winning by an average of 5.25 goals per game.
Series History: St. Norbert has the upper hand on the Saints heading into the weekend, holding a 7-4 series lead over St. Scholastica ... The Green Knights have eliminated the Saints from the NCHA Tournament Semifinals in each of the past two seasons.
